Durable Dog Toys

Every dog has different needs, likes and dislikes. That means that each of your pets needs a variety of dog toys to keep them entertained. Here are some generic suggestions based on the size and energy level of your pet.

Large Dogs

Examples of large dog breeds include: Rottweiler, Sheepdog, Mastiff, Retriever, and German Shephed.

These Dogs are not as hyper active as other dogs, however still need some exercise and fun. These animals generally want their dog toys to involve another dog or person, as they aren’t active enough to want playing alone. These dogs need durable toys, as the wear and tear these dog toys take can be extreme. For these larger breeds, I would suggest the Tug-Toy. The Tug-Toy is extremely durable, and has a built in Control-Flex connector that prevents the dog toy from snapping back and hitting either the owner or the pet. From the makers of Kong, the Tug-Toy is an excellent alternative to a towel or other elasticy substitute.

Medium Dogs

Examples of Medium sized dog breeds include: Terriers, Schnauzers, Spaniels and Poodles.

These dogs are fairly energetic, especially as puppies. Because of this, they will love pretty much any toy you give them. They are the animals that need durable dog toys that can be played with by them, as well as with another person/animal. For these sized dogs, I’d recommend something similar to the Romp ‘n Roll. This dog toy can be thrown around by the dog, or another person. It can be used for tug of wars, and it can be rolled around like a ball. With something this versatile, it’s the only toy your pet needs!

Small Dogs

Examples of small dog breeds include: Shih Tzu, Pugs, Miniature Terriers, and Beagles.

These dogs are known for being extremely energetic, sometimes even more so as full grown dogs than as puppies. They love to play, and need something that will keep them entertained when you’re too tired to roll around on the floor with them. They are also known to get bored easy, so having dog toys that offer variety are an asset. For this size dog, I would recommend the Teaser Ball. Basically this dog toy is a ball with a smaller ball in it, so the smaller ball inside it sends the entire thing rolling in a different direction than it was sent. Offer your dog this kind of spontaneity keeps him guessing and entertained for hours.

Toys for any size

If you’re looking for dog toys, but you aren’t yet sure what would be the best for your pet, the Easy Glider is perfect for dogs of all sizes. These Frisbee type gliders are made of soft foam so that they won’t hurt the dog when he tries to catch it, however are still very durable dog toys.. They also float for summertime play.

Overall, when looking at a toy for your dog, you need to consider his personality, his already favourite toys, and the amount of damage he does to his dog toys. This information will help you to better analyze what toys he would like, as well as what toys would last him a fair amount of time.
