There’s a Modern Dog Bed to Fit Every Dog’s Personality

In years past, a dog was lucky if he got a rug tossed on the floor to sleep on.  The modern pet bed has come a long way.  No longer does a dog have to lie upon the bare floor or a rug when he sleeps.

The modern dog bed takes into account many things.  Among the factors often considered are the natural instinctive behavior of dogs, the likes or dislikes of certain textures, and the overall comfort of the dog.  In addition, the modern pet bed manufacturers take into account that dogs are often considered family members and spend their times in the areas inhabited by their humans.  With this in mind, fabric color and style is used so that the modern dog bed can fit into any type of home décor.

Dogs often have their favorite places to sleep and this will help determine the type of modern dog bed you may want to buy.  Not taking into account your dog’s sleeping personality may result in a nice looking bed becoming a simple room decoration. First you need to observe your dog’s favorite sleeping position.

A dog that normally sleeps curled up is a light sleeper.  He is ready at the slightest sound or movement to wake up and protect his family.  For this reason, he very rarely relaxes enough to get a decent night’s sleep.  Smaller beds that allow him to curl up, yet provide protective sides resembling a cave will allow him to sleep deeper.  The modern dog bed often comes in a cave-like shape, taking into account that in the wild a dog prefers a den.

The modern dog bed comes in two levels of height.  There are ones that resemble couches for those dogs who sleep draped over the furniture.  If a dog moves around a lot in his sleep, especially when deep in dreams, you may want to buy a flat bed that will provide cushioning and still allow your dog freedom of movement.  Being close to the floor, he will not get hurt should he roll off the bed.

If your dog is a deep sleeper, he will prefer a modern dog bed that is soft, yet allows him to sleep either on his back or stretched out on his side.  These are the positions most often assumed by gentle or playful dogs that take everything in stride.  Oh, and what color should you get?  That is up to you.  Your dog, regardless of personality, will happily accept any color or pattern!
