Dog Grooming Supplies - Where do you start?

When you’re completing your daily grooming routine, you now have 2 or 3 of each product to choose from. And what’s the decision to use each one of these products based on? Very few people actually know what they’re looking for in terms of skin care products, and with the numerous brands in each category, it can get to be a major confusion. So after all the confusion of what products YOU should use, how do you know what your pup should use? Skin care, hair care, paw care, and ear and eye care are all an important part of grooming your healthy pet, So how do you know what to use? Because of what it says on the label? Here are some basic guidelines for knowing what dog care products to use.

Dog Care Products - Shampoo

Just like every other animal, dogs need their hair washed to remove dirt and oil, and to keep their skin healthy. When buying shampoo for your dog, you need to consider the condition of your dog’s hair, and his hair type.

If your dog has thick curly hair that gets knotted really easily, I would recommend something with a detangler to make brushing a little bit easier. That way taking care of their hair will be much easier overall. I’d recommend the Lavender & Oatmeal Pet Comfort Shampoo. This shampoo will work as a detangler for your dog’s hair, but will also make his coat shiny and soft.

If your dog has short hair that easily gets damaged and dry, I would recommend a shampoo with conditioners to make your dog’s hair that much softer. The Ginger & Grapefruit Renew Pet Shampoo has deep conditioners to help with your dog’s damaged hair. Alternatively, if you would like to use the shampoo you are currently using and start using a conditioner, you can do so with the Vanilla & Ginger Nourish Vitamin Conditioner. This conditioner also has anti-static agents in it to help with your dogs static issues in the winter.

When washing your dog with either conditioner or shampoo, remember to avoid getting water in your dog’s eyes and ears. This can cause infections that would be extremely painful for your pet.

Dog Care Products - Paw Treatments

Pet’s paws are a tricky thing. The pads on the bottoms of their feet (the fleshy part that make the trademark paw print shape) generally feel tough and calloused, however can be extremely sensitive. They are sensitive to the hot asphalt in the summer, as well as to the cold and salt of the winter outdoors. The best way to help with this is to use a bubble bath paw treatment. The Pet Fresh Bubble Bath Paw Treatment combines vanilla and milk thistle to make helps to heal your pet’s paws from everyday wear and tear.

Dog Care Products - Facial Scrub

When shampooing your pet’s eyes and ears, generally his face entirely. Because of this, some people have designed facial scrubs to clean the hair and extra sensitive skin on your pet’s face. The Pet Fresh Blueberry & Vanilla Facial Scrub foams and gently cleans your dog’s face. This product removes dirt, tear stains and stains around your pet’s mouth.

Again, if using this product, remember to avoid your dog’s eyes and ears, as these are very sensitive and apt to infection.
