Usage Directions For Interceptor

Interceptor is available in four different packs for weight-appropriate dosage in dogs of different sizes. The packs are available in color-coded boxes for easy identification and convenient selection.
Check your dog’s weight and get the pack that is appropriate for your dog’s body weight.
Remove one tasty chewable tablet from the packaging.
Give the chewable tablet to your dog by hand, or give it with a small amount of food.
Alternatively, you may also administer it as other tablet treatments.
Make sure that your dog consumes the whole dose.
Observe your dog for a few minutes to ensure that no part of the dose is lost or rejected.
If you suspect that the dose is not entirely consumed, redose once with the full recommended dose as soon as possible.
Administer the recommended dose of this chewable tablet orally, once every month, preferably on the same date each month, for your dog’s continued parasite protection.
If a dose is missed and a 30-day interval between dosing is exceeded, administer Interceptor immediately and resume the monthly dosing schedule.

Interceptor Protective Measures

For Animals

This chewable tablet is for animal use only.
Do not use in puppies less than 4 weeks of age, and weighing less than 2 lbs.

It is not for human use.

Precautions

Dogs should be tested for existing heartworm infection before using Interceptor. Infected dogs should be treated to remove adult heartworms and microfilariae prior to initiating treatment with Interceptor.

Store at room temperature, between 59° and 77°F (15°- 25°C).

Should I give Interceptor to my dog every month, all year long?

Interceptor must be administered monthly, preferably on the same date of each month. Year-round administration helps provide your dog with an uninterrupted internal parasite protection.

Can I use Interceptor in my pregnant dog?

In Elanco studies, Interceptor has been tested safely in pregnant and breeding female dogs, and breeding male dogs. Consult your veterinarian for further guidance.

Can I use Interceptor on a heartworm-positive dog?

Before using Interceptor, dogs should be tested for existing heartworm infections, and infected dogs should be treated to remove adult heartworms and microfilariae.

Can I use Interceptor with other medications?

In studies conducted by Elanco, milbemycin oxime (the ingredient of Interceptor) was used safely in pets receiving frequently used veterinary products such as vaccines, anthelmintics, antibiotics, steroids, flea collars, shampoos and dips. For specific concerns, please consult your veterinarian.

What if I miss a dose of Interceptor?

If you miss a dose and a 30-day interval between dosing has exceeded, administer Interceptor immediately and resume the monthly dosing schedule.

What if my dog accidentally receives more than the prescribed amount of Interceptor?

If you believe your dog has ingested more than the recommended dose of Interceptor, consult your veterinarian as soon as possible.
