NexGard Spectra is an oral treatment, so there are no restrictions on swimming, bathing and shampooing dogs before or after administration.
When replacing another heartworm preventive, the first dose of NexGard Spectra should be administered within one month of the last dose of the previous monthly preventive.
The use of NexGard Spectra in heartworm-positive dogs has not been evaluated. Consult your veterinarian for further guidance before using this chew in such pets.
If the regular monthly dose is missed and is late by 15 days or less, administer NexGard Spectra immediately and resume your monthly dosing schedule.
If the dose is more than 15 days and up to 30 days late, heartworm prevention can be maintained if you dose immediately and maintain regular monthly dosing for at least the next 2 consecutive months.
If a period of greater than 60 days has elapsed since the last dose, consult your veterinarian for advice.
NexGard Spectra can be used in breeding, pregnant and lactating female dogs. Consult your veterinarian for further guidance.
In field studies conducted by the manufacturer, NexGard Spectra was well tolerated by dogs receiving a wide variety of concurrent medications, including anaesthetics, pain-killers, dewormers, antibiotics, cardiac medications, diuretics, anti-inflammatories, sedatives, topical parasiticides and vaccines.
