  • Gulf coast ticks
  • Lone star ticks

Sarolaner - Action Mechanism & Effectiveness

Sarolaner has a systemic action mechanism. Once administered, this drug quickly gets spread across the pet's body and is absorbed into the blood. When fleas and ticks feed on Sarolaner-treated pet's blood, they ingest Sarolaner which causes overstimulation in the parasites' nervous system and death of the insects in the end.

Sarolaner acts fast and is known to begin working within 3-4 hours of administration. It eliminates more than 90% of fleas and ticks within 24 hours and 48 hours respectively.


Sarolaner - Safety Measures

The use of Sarolaner comes with wide safety margins. Such as,

  • Sarolaner is a member of the isoxazoline class of drugs that is known for its association with neurologic adverse effects including seizures, tremors, ataxia, etc.
  • The drug is recommended to be used with caution in pets that have experienced seizures or other neurologic adverse reactions in the past.
  • The safety of Sarolaner has not been evaluated in pregnant, breeding or lactating dogs and cats.
